Substance Education Training Course for In-School Student Counselors

On 26 March 2013, with the participation of In-School Student Counselors organized by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Substance Education Training Course held by the Department for Prevention and Treatment of Drug Dependence of the Social Welfare Bureau was completed.


Related training enabled In-School Student Counselors to learn the skills of teaching the substance education to children. Subjects included the introduction of the services of the Healthy Life Education Center and a class observation of primary one. The training was conducted by Hon Wai, Chief of the Department for Prevention and Treatment of Drug Dependence, and Hoi Va Pou, Chief of the Division of Prevention of Drug Abuse, as well as by educators of the Center. By Means of discussions and interactive ways, allowed participants to understand the importance of parent education and substance education for children in different stages of their growth. Exchanges and experience sharing were made regarding related work and program content as well.


There was a participation of 34 In-School Student Counselors for the training course, who were from Caritas of Macau, the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Service Center, União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau, the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the Psycho-Pedagogical Counseling and Special Education Center of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Macau Special Olympics, and the Centro de Formação Juvenil D. Bosco - Lar de Juventude, as well as the Macau Methodist Church Social Service Center.
